About Us

WHO WE ARE

Our main purpose is to educate and encourage a community of amateur radio operators. Our group is new on the amateur radio scene and hopes to expand and be known in our communities as a positive influence to youth aspiring to enter the amateur radio field. One of our short-term goals is to administer license exams of all levels.

Additional goals and areas of expertise include:

Being an asset to emergency services when called on to fill a supporting role in communications, searches, education, or in any crisis situation where the skills and abilities of our membership can contribute to the benefit of our community.

We also have a division of Crisis Preparedness and Response, which is an educational and real-life situation scenario-based training that could save your life in a survival condition.

We have a division of SKYWARN Spotters that assist the National Weather Service by relaying what is happening in Real Time, on the ground in your area, concerning severe weather events. By being a SKYWARN Spotter it is encouraged that you further your education in the area of meteorological field which is free on the SKYWARN website after being certified.

We also want to help motivate the younger generation in the interest of amateur radio. We would like to get involved with the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA and The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and show the necessity of amateur radio.

The name “GUARDIANS” was chosen in hope that the name itself would reflect our purpose, to be there for others. We are primarily an amateur radio club, but that is just a division of a larger dream. As a radio club we would also like to be known as a HUB for communication in a time of need. Additionally, the club would like to field a physical team to give support. For example, in a FEMA type 3 incident we would be able to set up auxiliary and supplemental communications, ARES, Communications Plans and organization, a rest station for emergency workers to receive drinks, food and possibly an area where cots could be set up for rest or injured and possibly porta johns as an effort to supplement resources needed in an emergency.

As you can tell that (GARD) Cherokee County SC Guardians is just that, a division of a larger group of GUARDIANS

Guardians is a Nonprofit Organization.
